The Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015 provides for a web-based Register of Lobbying.
The register makes information available to the public about those communicating with designated public officials on policy, legislative or other matters.
The Act provides for:
- Establishment and maintenance of a publicly accessible register of lobbying
- Requirements for lobbyists to register and provide information about their activities, including information on their clients
- Introduction of a ‘cooling-off’ period, during which lobbying activity may not be carried out by certain former officials
- Role of the Standards in Public Office Commission as the regulator of lobbying
We have responsibilities under the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015.
Section 6(1) provides that the Chief Executive Officer is a designated public official for the purposes of the Act.
Section 6(4) requires us to publish a list of designated public officials, including their role and responsibilities.
The purpose of this list is:
- To allow members of the public to identify designated public officials
- To support lobbyists in completing returns by providing relevant contact details
