Sign Language Interpreting Service
We fund and support the Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS), a national service that promotes access and standards in Irish Sign Language interpreting.
SLIS provides a range of services, including:
- A referral service to support access to qualified interpreters
- Support for individuals and service providers in arranging interpreting services
- Guidance on access and best practice in Irish Sign Language interpreting
SLIS also delivers the Irish Remote Interpreting Service (IRIS), which provides access to an Irish Sign Language/English interpreter through an online platform. The interpreter is based at SLIS offices, while users can access the service remotely.
